The creation of Castleview Holiday Lodges, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Scottish Borders, has been a journey of dedication and craftsmanship. Integral to bringing our vision to life were the teams at SJC Building Services and Greg Brown Joinery. Having previously worked with Scott and Greg on smaller projects around our farmhouse, we entrusted them with this considerably larger endeavour, confident in their skills and commitment.

The Journey with Our Builders

From the outset, Scott, Greg, and their teams exemplified professionalism and hard work, ensuring the project progressed smoothly, largely according to our initial plans. Despite inevitable delays—awaiting responses from building control, material deliveries, and contending with the whims of the weather—their adaptability was remarkable. One memorable solution to weather-induced delays was the conversion of a farm shed into a workshop for constructing the timber frames, a testament to their proactive approach to challenges.

Their experience and efficiency were particularly evident in the construction of identical lodges. This familiarity streamlined the process for lodges two and three, as the builders could apply their knowledge and expertise with precision and speed.

The building phase focused on erecting the frame and roofing, after which we welcomed Douglas Bain & Sons to outfit the interiors. Their craftsmanship brought the finishing touches to life, achieving a high standard that resonates throughout each lodge.

April 2022 marked a significant milestone in our journey, as Lynda stepped away from her career in education to devote her full attention to the lodges’ development. This decision underscored our family’s commitment to the Castleview project, further enhancing the personal investment and passion that drives us.
